The Department of Mechanical Engineering of the School of Engineering of Polytechnic of Porto has more than 1800 students distributed across the six studies programmes that it coordinates. The studies programmes include Bachelor degrees, Master's degrees and Postgraduate degrees, involving more than 100 Professors and Technicians from several Departments.

  The Department's facilities are located in Building F and Building Q, and comprise classrooms, lecture rooms, laboratories, faculty offices and other support structures. It is also in the Building F that the CIDEM, Centre for Research and Development in Mechanical Engineering is located.
